We are The Brook

A LONG-TERM VISION

At The Brook, we are deeply committed to quality care. We have taken every measure necessary to ensure that we will be here, serving families and communities in Michigan, for the long term. This requires us to have a solid business model, active and engaged leadership, and consistent financial performance. This is our purpose, and everyone within The Brook organization is committed to it.

A HISTORY OF COMMITMENT

The Brook was founded in 2001 by Jerry DeWitt, James DeWitt, Diane Friedriechsen and William Carey. This team, comprised of a real estate developer, a healthcare professional, a general contractor and an attorney, has successfully taken The Brook from a single facility operation to the dominant provider of assisted living in Michigan. The Brook of Roscommon- our first community opened in July of 2002. It’s 43,000 square feet and includes 42 apartments with a 50/50 mix of assisted and independent units.

In 2004, The Brook began construction on its second location in West Branch. With two communities up and running, The Brook was on its way to making a name for itself as a quality care provider. Families and communities began to inquire if The Brook might expand into other areas of Michigan. And expand we did. Between 2006 and 2017 the company developed new communities in Houghton Lake, Gladwin, Cheboygan, Grayling, Boyne City, Gaylord, Big Rapids, Newaygo and Cedar Springs. The Brook is ideally situated to meet Michigan’s growing need for quality, affordable retirement living In 2020 we will welcome the communities of Portland and Rogers City, Michigan to the Brook family.
